 So, what happens when you have a very limited number of proprietary operating systems that run and control 99.9% of the computer software and hardware on the planet? What if Bill Gates and Microsoft wanted to take over the world? What if he collaborated with Steve Jobs to combine resources and develop a super worm capable of infiltrating and exploiting covert back doors into every computer network via the system update process? Forget about the National Security level. The real cherry ripe for the plucking would be the private and financial sector. Take down the global financial networks, redistribute the wealth, or just plain erase all data on every infected network. And, when that occurs, complete and utter chaos. A financial information eradication on a global level throwing the world back to the stone age and the barter system. Governments and their enormous bureaucracies would implode, unable to fund anything much less create the redundant and complicated intricacies required to operate.
